Workplace Mediation

Creating the conditions for constructive working relationships

Unresolved conflict can affect wellbeing, performance and the wider team. When communication has broken down, workplace mediation can help people understand different perspectives and find a workable way forward.

Mediation is a confidential and impartial process. The mediator does not decide who is right or impose a solution. Instead, each participant is supported to speak openly, listen differently and agree practical steps for the future.

Mediation may help where there is:

  • a breakdown in a working relationship

  • tension between colleagues or managers

  • repeated misunderstanding or poor communication

  • conflict following organisational change

  • disagreement about behaviour or ways of working

  • a desire to rebuild trust after a formal disciplinary or grievance process

The process normally includes individual conversations followed by a facilitated joint meeting. Any agreed actions are created by the participants themselves.

Mediation is voluntary and may not be suitable for every situation. An initial discussion will help establish whether it is the right approach.

Could an independent conversation help move a working relationship forward?
